Of all the fancy folds I’ve done recently, I think this has been the easiest AND the most impressive. It folds flat to go into a standard envelope, and pops open to surprise the recipient.
My card base is made from Basic Black cardstock, which sets off the Black and metallic Brass elements in the World of Good Specialty Designer Series Paper. I’ve folded the card to make a square tube, and when it’s flattened it’s the same width as a standard card. Then I made 2 smaller tubes from the same Basic Black card, one for each size. They are half the height and width of the larger tube, and get glued to the front bottom of the card. It’s easier to assemble this bit when the card base is flattened. I’ve cut squares of DSP to fit to the panels, and on the back there are two Whisper White panels for the sentiment and any writing you want to add.
The pop-up elements on the front are also really easy to do. The globe was cut using the World Map dies, and cut from Brass foil sheets backed with Adhesive sheets. (I really cannot stress how useful the adhesive sheets are with intricate or detailed dies, they’re worth their weight in gold!) The sentiment was stamped with Memento Black ink on Whisper White, then cut out with the Tailored Tag punch. I then trimmed the tag on each side and mounted on another tag shape punched from Brass Foil.
To make the shape pop-up, I cut a small hinge from Basic Black card. This is just a small strip of card folded in half. One half is glued to the centre of the shape, and the other half gets glued to the card front just next to the fold.
