For the September Class by Post, I’m showcasing the Poinsettia Place suite, and I wanted to show how it wasn’t just a set for Christmas. I made some customer thank you cards in August using the Poinsettia stamps and dies, but with a lovely autumnal feel.
Below you’ll see pictures of how to do easy stamping on diecuts using the Stamparatus. Now, I know you can stamp an image, then line the die around it before you cut it out, but if you’re doing this a lot, it can take a while. It’s far quicker to bulk cut your die shapes first, and stamp second. Here’s how:
Create a template using the offcuts of one of your shapes. Use the magnets that come with the Stamparatus to hold it in place.
Take the matching stamp, and line it up inside the hole that the shape cut. Once you’ve got it right, bring the plate from the Stamparatus down and the stamp will stick to it.
Then place your shape inside the template, ink up your stamp, and bring the plate back down. Voila, a perfectly stamped image. Re-ink and replace the die cut image with the next one, and just keep going until they’re all done. Quick, easy, simple, and FAST! (This works with punched shapes as well as dies, and is especially useful for builder punches.)
But why stop at one stamp/die? In the next set of pictures you’ll see I’ve lined up all three of the different sized Poinsettia flowers. I’ve used an extra magnet here, which thankfully you can buy from Stampin’ Up! in sets of two. Using the Stamparatus, I stamped three different colours of flowers using autumn colours, which made it all significantly faster.
The colours of ink and card that I used were Cajun Craze, Bumblebee, Cinnamon Cider, and Mossy Meadow. Once I had all my flowers, it was easy to cut them into leaves. I used some Early Espresso cardstock to cut some wreath bases using the 2″ and 2 1/4″ circle punches. (Cut a 2″ circle first, then line the 2 1/4″ punch around the hole and punch again, and you’ll have a ring!(
Then I used the silicone craft sheet to work on, and my trusty multipurpose liquid glue, and stuck on all the leaves as shown below.
Finally I mounted the wreath on a Crumb Cake card blank with a layer of the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper to make it look like a door. The sentiment is from the Celebration Tidings set and was cut with the die from Ornate Frames, and finished off with some Champagne rhinestones. A gold loop and a bow made from the Forever Greenery trim combo pack finished off the whole thing.
