For week 7 on the CASE challenge, we’ve gone for an elegant and simple layout from the lovely Bonnie O’Neill, more info here. Her card uses DSP on one side, and coordinating stamped image on the other, with a sentiment in the middle.
For my version, I’ve used the Love What You Do stamp set and the coordinating Share What You Love Speciality Designer Series Paper. I’ve put a close-up of the DSP below to try and show you how much it shimmers and shines, but it’s hard to capture in a photo! You’ll just have to trust me when I say it is GORGEOUS in real life!
I started with a strip of Whisper White and I stamped the flower outline in Rich Razzleberry. I used one of the watercolour blotches to give shading to the colour, again in Rich Razzleberry but I stamped off onto scrap paper beforehand, to give a lighter shade. This is a great way to get lots of shades from one ink pad. I stamped the leaves in leaves in Tranquil Tide and the twigs in Crumb Cake. Then to assemble the card, I used a Rich Razzleberry card blank with a Crumb Cake layer, then added the strip of DSP and my stamped Whisper White side by side, then finally stuck some of the gorgeous Rich Razzleberry velvet ribbon to cover the join.
The finishing touch was the sentiment, again from Love What You Do, stamped in Rich Razzleberry on Whisper White then cut out with the Layering Ovals, and another Scalloped Oval at the back again using Rich Razzleberry. Finally I added a bow of the same velvet ribbon underneath the sentiment.
This layout was so simple to do and has so much potential. I know I’ll be using this again in the future, as it lends itself to pretty much any kind of card: Christmas, birthday, men’s cards, you name it!
