Welcome to week 18 on the CASE challenge!  We’re using another winter sketch as inspiration, this time from the wonderfully creative Windy Ellard, more info here.  While I just love her original card, I don’t actually have the stamp set she used.  But CASEing isn’t just copying, it’s letting yourself be inspired by someone’s creation so you can make something with your own stash.  So, still very much in Christmas mode, I thought I’d fall back on an oldie but goodie.

I started with a thick Whisper White card base, then a Night of Navy cardstock layer and then standard Whisper White on top.  The top layer was run through the Softly Falling embossing folder, which is perfect for cards all year round.  I stamped the sentiment from Star of Light in Night of Navy ink onto Whisper White, then layered on Night of Navy and glued to my card front.

Using a handy offcut of silver foil which already had the adhesive sheets on the back, I cut out the intricate star using the Starlight Thinlits dies, and then used the matching star die to cut out a few wee stamped stars.  When I started layering it onto the card I realised the large star got a bit lost, so I used the larger star thinlit to cut out a Night of Navy silhouette, which I think made all the difference.  I used foam dimensionals to layer my stars onto the card, and finished off with some clear rhinestones in the centre of the stars for some extra sparkle.

If you joined in with this challenge, be sure to head to the Craft with Emma Facebook page and share your creations.

If you’re following this challenge, you’ve hopefully joined me from Becki Ritson at Sunshine Stamping.  Your next stop now is Sandra Roberts at Sandra’s Stamp & Craft Studio to see her take on this week’s challenge.

For next week, it was my choice, and I’ve picked the very clever Lisa Curcio.  You can find her blog here showing the project we’ll be CASE’ing next week if you want to join in.  It’s a really easy technique that gives stunning results, and I hope you have fun trying it out.

Come back next week to see the cards Becki, Sandra and I have made using Lisa’s card as inspiration.

Remember, we want YOU to join in too!  If you’d like to join in the challenge, please go to my Facebook page Craft with Emma where you can share your creations, I’d love to see what you come up with!

Happy stamping!
