Kallhax – building Ikea units to suit

This was one of our more unusual plans for the craft room furniture.  I knew I wanted a Kallax wall, with lots of cubbies full of crafty goodies.  You've already seen the posts about the Creations by Rod units, designed especially for Kallax units from Ikea.  So armed with a trusty tape-measure and the Ikea online catalogue, I started working out the best way to achieve my dream. New/old fireplace has arrived!

My gorgeous new/old fireplace is here!  The experts at Glasgow Architectural Salvage did an amazing job restoring it, and here you can see the builders holding it in place where it will go in the craft room.  Below are the photos of what was originally in that space, and then the photo of the fire before restoration, so you can see how much work has gone in to making it so beautiful.  It's had a basket added to the front, and the metalwork restored and blackened.  I can't wait for it to be fully installed! Ikea delivery!

I've been so excited for this day!  All of the Ikea furniture for my craft room has arrived.  It came in two deliveries, one smaller box from DPD with small items, and then a much larger truck with BIG boxes.  The lovely delivery guys took them all the way into the kitchen for us.  Why the kitchen, you ask?  Well it's about the only room left in the house with any space.  The plan was to build the furniture in the kitchen, then once the floor is finished in the craft room, all the furniture can be moved in.
